Beach Clean-up

Join in cleaning up the beaches and surrounding areas on Saturday, November 7 at 9 a.m. in preparation for the upcoming right whale calving season. Keep Nassau Beautiful (KNB) and community volunteers will remove litter and debris from the beach, beach access points, beach parks, and parking lots. To participate in the beach clean-up, please register HERE.

Meet at Main Beach and connect with the majesty of the ocean and the gentle giants that roam its depths as you flow through your yoga poses and start your festival day with an inspiring experience by the sea.

With wagging tails and slobbery smiles, furry friends are invited to support right whale conservation at our Dog Parade on Sunday, November 8 at noon! Dress your pup in a marine-themed costume and join the fun, hosted by Tails of the Trail, Humane Society of Nassau County, and Nassau County Animal Services.  Sign up HERE!

Learn about right whales and other marine mammals directly from the biologists that work so hard to protect them. Experts will be on-hand throughout the festival to tell you about their efforts and answer your questions.  Schedule of experts will be posted at the festival. 

Kids' Program

At the Right Whale Festival, kids become ocean explorers! With their special Kids Program in hand, they’ll navigate the festival grounds on an interactive adventure—uncovering the truth about right whales by answering fun true-or-false questions and busting common myths along the way! Answer all the questions and choose a prize from our treasure chest!

Lecture Luncheon

Join us Friday, November 6 at 11:30 a.m. at Story & Song for the Right Whale Festival Lecture Luncheon. Enjoy a casual lunch while hearing from grassroots organizations making a difference in right whale conservation, research, education, and rescue. Tickets go on sale September 1; check back for details!

Right Whale Sighting Training

Experience the extreme size of large whale species when you stand beside these life-size whale inflatables. Walk inside of a North Atlantic right whale to learn about its biology. Snuggle up to an inflatable right whale calf as you learn about its fight to survive.

Join Blue World Research Institute (BWRI) on November 9 at 6 p.m. at the Courtyard Amelia Island for a volunteer right whale sighting training. Learn how to identify North Atlantic right whales, report sightings, and contribute valuable information to ongoing research and conservation efforts.

Rescue and Enforcement Vessels

All aboard! Experience the thrill of exploring a law enforcement and U.S. Coast Guard vessel used to protect right whales. Learn about right whale research and see the vessels scientists use to study these whales. Check out vessels that play a crucial role in rescuing entangled whales!

Come hungry! Enjoy a variety of food trucks and vendors serving delicious meals, desserts, sweet treats, and festival favorites throughout the weekend. All seafood served at the festival will be sustainably sourced, with an emphasis on local seafood whenever possible.

#LiveLikeJessica Tribute Ride

Jessica Koelsch Bibza was a driving force behind the creation of the Right Whale Festival. An Ironman athlete and marine scientist, she believed athletics could inspire community involvement in right whale conservation. Her memory lives on through this 35-mile tribute ride for experienced cyclists on Sunday, November 8 at 10 a.m., hosted by the North Florida Bicycle Club. Please register ONLINE.

This high-energy skateboard competition on Saturday, November 7 at 1 p.m. will showcase amazing local talent while bringing together extreme sports and ocean conservation. Hosted by Friends of Fernandina Skatepark and Amelia Surf Co. To participate, sign up on the Friends of Fernandina Skatepark website.
